First, let me say that I am a Bono fan—really! But I can’t sit back and let the following media-mistake wash over the literary among us without some kind of nasty words from me. Bono, you are a lyricist, not a poet (oh when will we learn the difference!), and as such, please keep your adolescent odes in your livejournal, where they belong.
The Following is an excerpt from Bono’s tribute (read love) poem to Elvis Presley, which he will read as part of a 15-minute feature interwoven with specially composed music and archive material to be broadcast by BBC Radio 4 on May 13 2009.

elvis liked to play speed cop.
elvis had a monkey named scatter before anyone.
elvis wore a cape at the white house when he was presenting nixon with two silver pistols.
elvis was a member of the drug squad.
elvis wore eye make up, just hangin' out…
